Jimmy Ball- Academy Technical Director - As far back as his great-grandfather, Jimmy’s family history has been ingrained with soccer players, coaches and managers. His father, the legendary English footballer Alan Ball, introduced him to the professional soccer world as a boy and it has influenced Jimmy ever since. He has managed teams/academy’s in Ireland, Spain, England, and Canada and is now the Director of Football for the Issaquah Soccer Club. Along with his managerial experience he also played professionally for Southampton FC and Exeter FC.
Jimmy holds a UEFA “B” Coaches License as well as an FA Coaching Diploma and Pre Lim Coaching Badge.
Rick McCampbell- Academy Head Coach- A USSF A candidate, Rick brings over 30 years of playing and coaching experience (Premier Soccer, High School, Olympic Development Program, College, Professional / USISL). He considers his greatest accomplishment not to be the numerous winning records of the teams, but the development of over 40 players that have gone on to play collegiate soccer at NCAA D1 & 2 as well as professional levels.
Rick has previously coached at Emerald City FC, North Shore Youth Soccer Association, AJAX United (Cal North State Champion) U11-U14 girls, Thomas Downy High School (Central CA Champion), Cal North ODP GK coach and Cal North ODP GU15 & 16 (Regional Champion).
Mike Washington- Academy Head Coach- Mike has played a major role in the progression of youth soccer in Washington State. He has 34 years of head coaching experience including coaching at numerous high schools across the state as well as the Three Rivers and Northshore Soccer Clubs. Mike coached Washington State ODP teams through the 1990’s and he is currently the Men’s Head Coach at Whitman College.
Mike holds a USSF National “A” license as well as a USSF National Goalkeeping Certificate, a USSF National Youth Instructor Certificate and a UEFA “B” License.
Kristian Powell- Academy Assistant Coach- Holding a USSF National “A” License along with a UEFA “B”, Kristian is currently the Technical Director at Northwest United. Kristian gained invaluable knowledge of the game playing for Norwich Academy and Cambridge United Academy as well as playing professionally in Spain and semi-pro for the PSSA Rapids indoor/outdoor team. He graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a BSC Science and Soccer Degree.
Kristian likes to create a fun learning environment so players can express themselves with hard work and dedication. Technique and ball mastery are fundamental to his player development- so players have the tools to dictate, as a team, the possession and control of games.
Neil Riddle- Academy Coach- Neil brings over 13 years of coaching experience as well as his USSF "A" license and NSCAA Goalkeeping Licenses to the Academy Coaching staff. He played professionally in England for Shouthampton FC and also played a number of years for Hamble Football Club and Aerostructures FC.
Neil has managed clubs in Florida including working as the Tecnhical Director for the Hernando Heat Soccer Club as well as the Director of Coaching for the Brooksville Raid Soccer Club; he currently works as the Assistant Director of Coaching for the Issaquah Soccer Club.
Amanda Axelson- Academy Administrator/Assistant Coach- Amanda has loved the game of soccer since the day she was born. She grew up playing for Eastside FC and spent three years on the Washington State ODP team; at Cedarcrest High School she spent four years as a starting Forward/Outside Mid for the Varsity team and set a school record by scoring 40 goals with 27 assists in her senior year. She was recruited by Seattle Pacific University and was the starting forward for their 2008 National Championship winning squad.
Amanda now coaches the U-15 and U-10 Tynecastle Girls teams as well as the Cedarcrest High School Varsity team. She aspires to influence young, competitive players to become creative, smart footballers who understand the importance of hard work, discipline, and team play.
Heather Cato- Academy Head Coach- Heather is currently the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Whitman College. A four-year starter for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks during her collegiate playing days, she was named the head women’s soccer coach at Whitman College on July 6, 2010.
Heather graduated from Mountain View High School in Vancouver, Wash. and honed her soccer skills at an early age playing for the Washington State ODP team. She started with the ODP at age 12 and was playing at the regional and national levels before leaving for Arkansas. Heather still ranks among Razorback career scoring leaders. She kicked off her coaching career as an assistant at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock from 2001 to 2003.
Marty Lackey- Marty is the founder and Director of Coaching at the Central Washington Soccer Academy and will be working with the East Academy Girls ’96 and ’97s. It is his goal to create a program that will enrich kids both on and off the field. Marty grew up playing soccer in Western Washington where he attended Liberty High School, he went on to play collegiate ball at the University of Portland. He also played 5 years on the Olympic Development State team with soccer great Kasey Keller.
